The sculptures were conceived as a gesture of support towards the advancement of peace in the Middle East.
The first sculptures in this series are to be given as gifts to those advancing peace in our region: The Prime Minister of Israel, Mr. Ehud Barak, the Chairman of the Center for Peace, Mr. Shimon Peres*, the Chairman of the Palestinian Authority, Mr. Yasir Arafat, the President of the United States, Mr. William Jefferson Clinton, and others.
The sculpture is composed of a vertical stainless steel disc that moves along a groove cut into an horizontal stainless steel plate. The names of Israel, in Hebrew and in blue, and of Palestine, in Arabic and green are inscribed on this plate, on both sides of the groove representing the ‘Seam Line’. The two sides of the vertical steel disc are mirror-polished, reflecting parts of Israel onto Palestine and parts of Palestine onto Israel as the disc moves along the groove.
